These pictures were all taken between 4:30 and 6:30 this evening.
This is 508 Portsmouth Ave. I remember reading about it on Vintage Kingston. I bet Fran will know the history behind it. It is now something to do with Corrections Canada.
The most Disney-esque penal palace ever built–Collins Bay Penitentiary.
Now that the bridal spirea is out, I had to come and see this place on Stagecoach Road near Sydenham. I passed here in 2012 and was wowed by the breath-taking whiteness tumbling over the fence.
A storm approaches–from Stagecoach Road.
This is the corner of Sydenham and Rutledge roads. Apparently the Home Hardware is moving up here, hence the rubble fill. I guess it is too expensive to have the Home Hardware and Foodland right on the water, in the center of town. I’m not sure if the Foodland will move, but this is quite a ways out of town, and if one doesn’t have a car, it will be very inconvenient.
Didn’t quite make it home before the rain. It came down hard but not for long enough. It is really dry out there. I think we will get some more though, and maybe thunderstorms.
